It is freaking cold in New York, with temperatures down to minus 16 degrees Celsius, but upon entering Bergdorf Goodman, the renowned uptown department store, it's sizzling creativity that comes to mind, especially on the designer floor. One area in particular caught my attention: a sort of long hallway full of mini installations showing us the best of ss2016 Gucci. I hadn't seen the collection up close yet, so what an amazement I felt, when I saw the delicate fabrics, the ruffles and bows and many more details that designer Alessandro Michele came up with. You may know I was a huge fan of Gucci at the time of Tom Ford (I liked the sometimes harsh and rigid styles of Frida Giannini less) but what this new creative director has had in store for us these last few seasons, is a blessing for the brand and for fashion. In a way this is couture (although as a client you can just try it on and walk out in it -if you pay of course). Couture in a sense of very detailed, lots of handwork and quite visionary from the start. Call it granny chic or even bohemian flirty, but here's a collection that makes me dream. I must say I didn't try anything on, I didn't look at any price tag, but that's what fashion should be as well: a dream to look at, to touch, to just enjoy. Pour le plaisir des yeux, as they would say in Marrakech... Here are some of the images I took at Bergdorf Goodman.
